Pink bluebird

Two months after I finished designing these wedding invites, I finally got to see the printed version.
In fact 2 weeks ago we ordered some prints from an online printing shop and the quality of the print turned out to be quite disappointing...
I deliberately chose to print on recycled paper but it turned out to be not what my client's after.
So we decided to get them printed again, and this time with a more vivid colour palette.
The feel is a bit different from my original design, but I am quite happy with it.

The design consists of the birth flowers of the couple, and a bluebird, which symbolises happiness.
Not the most original idea, but I think it's appropriate for this wedding.

So best wishes:)

Costume & Portrait

Pictures from today's Costume Portrait Day, an event organised by the UAL Life Drawing Society & ASEAN Society.

Sold two of my drawings. Thanks for supporting:)

It was really fun getting dressed up and doing some quick sketches. Will definitely be going again.

Assessment in a day. And exhibition in a week.

Tattoo Design for a friend.
Hair, Birth flower, Bird
All the good things.
I actually quite like the visual.
Might consider doing a series of these flowery girls.

iPassion

This may not be true, but I think for most successful people who earn a lot of money, whatever the thing that has brought them the success they have today is, the thought to 'become a billionaire' probably wasn't the only intention or drive behind it - they are usually truly passionate about what they do and do what they believe in.

At least this is the impression I got when I was watching the new iPad launch video.

All these new products Apple keeps coming up with, I honestly believe they are not there just because Apple wants to get another few hundred millions out of us, but to provide us with, not necessarily 'a better life', but definitely more convenience and fun. Maybe it's just me being super gullible again but I was actually quite moved when watching the video. It really excited me and made me believe in a bright future.

More passion is what I need.
Forget about the money (as long as I can still afford bread and water)!

Maybe that's why Bruce Mau warned us not to enter awards competitions.
Could be just me but from my experience when I decide to enter competitions, the work I produce usually doesn't reflect what I truly believe in. It's not truly to my heart. I only do it for the possible money and fame they might bring me. Which doesn't even happen because I am not passionate enough about them.

Time to really rethink about what I'm doing and what I'd like to be doing.

S-S-S

Haven't blogged for a while.
[ New Year Resolution - FAIL :( ]

Went to Selfridges for Sophie Stephens's life drawing session today.

Here are some of the drawings I did:

I began with a more descriptive and realistic approach, then I gradually simplified my lines and made them look more fashion-illustration-like.

It was fun. I did at a point want to go into fashion illustration.

Got some advice from Sophie on how to get into the industry - be proactive and just do everything and anything that might catch the attention of magazine editors/fashion designers/critics!

Getting known is way more important than getting a first in your degree.

I will try to finish my website by the start of next week and get back into my blogging routine.
